Baptisms, Weddings, and Funerals
As found in the Book of Common Prayer, Holy Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body, the Church. Baptism takes place on Sunday within the Eucharist. Five days have been designated as especially appropriate: the Easter Vigil, the Day of Pentecost, All Saints’ Day or the Sunday after All Saints’ Day, and the Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord (the first Sunday after the Epiphany). If these dates will not work, the clergy will work with the family to find another Sunday. Baptismal preparation is required for parents and sponsors, and classes are offered for older children and adults preparing for baptism.
Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage
An open and affirming congregation, Epiphany welcomes all couples seeking to celebrate their love in a life-long committed relationship. Couples are required to meet with the clergy for three-to-six sessions of premarital counseling before a wedding. If divorce is involved, clergy are required to receive permission from the Bishop before proceeding with a marriage. Please contact the clergy before setting a date.
When there is a death in the family, please call the office as soon as possible at 410-252-4465. Clergy and parishioners are available to offer support, funeral planning, and food at this difficult time. Epiphany’s Memorial Garden also offers a serene location to inter the ashes of a loved one.
